Clearwater Credit Union Begins Deconstruction in Preparation for its New Uptown Branch

Butte, MT – Clearwater Credit Union has begun deconstruction of the vacant Wells Fargo building located at 200 N. Main St. to make way for construction of its new Uptown Butte branch in the same location.
Deconstruction will take approximately two weeks, and construction on the new branch will begin shortly thereafter with a projected Fall 2024 opening.

Clearwater’s new Uptown Butte branch will be located at the corner of Main and Granite and will replace its existing location at 34 E. Granite. To ensure the new branch makes a lasting contribution to uptown Butte and aligns with the Uptown Butte Master Plan, Clearwater has engaged with city officials, community leaders, local businesses, and its existing members as part of the branch design process. The Butte-Silver Bow Historic Preservation Commission has reviewed the design and issued a Certificate of Appropriateness for it. MMW Architects out of Missoula designed the building shown in the included rendering, and Jay Fortune Construction, Inc. will serve as the general contractor.

“Great care is being taken to ensure the new building fits into uptown Butte’s architectural character, that we capitalize on advancements in energy efficiency and sustainable building practices, and, most importantly, that we offer service enhancements for our members. The new location provides great visibility, more parking, and a drive-thru,” said Jack Lawson, President & CEO of Clearwater Credit Union.

“We are really excited to build a more expansive home in uptown Butte,” said Paul Herendeen, Clearwater’s Director of Impact Market Development. “Butte has such a rich history and a bright future — we’re excited to continue working with the community to preserve Uptown’s character and help build its future.”
