2024 Board of Directors Elections

Elections Process

Clearwater Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit credit union overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors who serve staggered, three-year terms.

In 2024, two Board positions are expiring, and the Board Nominating Committee has nominated the candidates noted below to fill those expiring terms.

In the event that a credit union member wishes to run against these nominees the Board will also accept nominations by petition from the general membership through May 3, 2024. Nominations from the floor will not be accepted at the Annual Meeting. Members wishing to run against the Board Nominees should complete and submit a Nomination Packet by May 3, 2024.

If the Nominating Committee receives no additional nominees by petition, the nominees will be declared by acclimation at the Annual Meeting on June 17, 2024.

If the Nominating Committee receives additional nominees by petition, an election will be necessary. If this occurs, we’ll post candidate names and biographies and elections details in Clearwater branches and online by May 14, 2024.

Nominees

Don Creveling – Incumbent

Don Creveling has been a Clearwater Board Member for the last 23 years. He was raised in rural Montana and has enjoyed being a part of all that makes Montana a great place for families and work-life balance. He holds an MBA in HealthCare Administration and has worked in healthcare finance since 1990. His wife and family stay busy with work, travel, and all the outdoor activities Montanans enjoy. A credit union member for over 55 years, Don is most interested in the owner-member concept of credit unions, values-based banking, and considers being a voluntary board member a great opportunity.

“The opportunity to serve on the Clearwater Board of Directors is one of service to a tradition of the cooperative financial model (members helping members). Not only is it important to continue our focus on providing affordable and secure credit resources, financial education, and consistent financial services for members, it is also important that we live our commitment to values-based banking. Continuing to advocate for prudent and safe financial management, a mission that encompasses dedication to a sustainable economy, to being a socially oriented community member, and to ethical banking are values that I wholeheartedly support and will continue to work for. My wish to continue as a Clearwater Board Member is part of a personal goal of continuous learning and continuing to find ways in which I can be a positive and vital part of our community.”

Leslie Halligan – Incumbent

Leslie Halligan serves as a District Court Judge in Missoula and Mineral Counties. She is a third-generation Montanan, who attended the University of Montana, graduating with a BA in Political Science in 1983, and a Law Degree in 1986. She and her husband, Mike, are active in the Missoula community and have raised three sons. As a Board Member, Leslie has watched Clearwater grow from assets of $83 million to more than $1Billion in assets. She strives to be a strong advocate for members and employees.

“As a Clearwater Credit Union volunteer board member, I value the opportunity to contribute to Clearwater’s efforts to provide safety and security for your financial assets, increase our membership, expand our service area, improve our banking services, and contribute positively to our communities and our environment. Over the past 30 years, I have witnessed many changes in our organization, but with Clearwater’s commitment to strategic planning and sound decision making, the organization has prepared for and weathered these challenges with the support of dedicated and committed leaders and coworkers. I continue to participate in training and education to better enable me to serve on the board and promote the goals of the credit union. Clearwater is working to be a force for good in banking. If re-elected, I will work diligently to ensure that Clearwater remains a vibrant, sound financial institution, that values its coworkers and enhances the lives of its members and the communities it serves. I am very honored to serve you, our members, and Clearwater, and am seeking your continued support in the upcoming election. I would appreciate your vote.”
