What's Happening?

To improve operational efficiencies and better serve your debit card needs, we’re changing all Clearwater Debit Cards from Mastercard to Visa. This includes Personal, Business, and HSA Debit Cards.

What's Staying the Same?

Your debit card terms and conditions and our commitment to your security and satisfaction will stay exactly the same.

What's New

All new Visa Debit Cards reflect a new design that reflects Montana’s majestic scenery, as viewed through the lens of Montana-based photographer, Laura Verhaeghe.

What This Change Means For You.

You’ll receive a new, contactless Clearwater Visa Debit Card in the next few months. This means your card number, expiration date, security code, and PIN will all change.

When Will Your New Card Arrive?

We’ll reissue all debit cards between September 2025 and February 2026. We’ll notify you approximately one week in advance of your new card arriving by postal mail.

What Do You Need to Do Now?

Please ensure that we have your current address on file so you receive your new debit card timely. Once your new debit card arrives, you’ll need to activate it and update your card information on file for any recurring or automatic payments.

Visa Account Updater

We understand changing your debit card number effects any automatic or recurring payments you have set up with your current debit card information.

To make this change easier for you, we’ll use Visa’s Account Updater tool to automatically update your card information on file with thousands of participating merchants. Because the tool depends on participating merchants, it may not change every automatic or recurring payment you have automatically; however, it should help with many of them.

Once you receive your new card, we encourage you to verify that all your recurring or automatic payments have been updated with your new card info.

Debit Card Reissue FAQs

When will my new Clearwater Visa Debit Card arrive?

We’re reissuing all debit cards between September 2025 and February 2026. We’ll notify you approximately one week before your new card arrives via postal mail.

If I have more than one debit card, will they all arrive at the same time?

No. We’re reissuing cards in order of card type and/or their current expiration date. For your security, we will not state publicly when specific debit cards will arrive, but we will give you approximately one week’s advance notice of your card’s arrival.

If people in my household also have a Clearwater Debit Card, will we all receive our new cards at the same time?

No. We’re reissuing cards in order of card type and/or their current expiration date. That means members in the same household may receive their cards at different times. For your security, we will not publish when specific debit cards are scheduled to arrive, but we’ll give you approximately one week’s advance notice of your card’s arrival.

Will my new Visa Debit Card have a new design?

Yes! In addition to having the Visa logo on it, we’ve updated all Clearwater card designs with a fresh new look reflecting majestic Montana scenery.

Recurring Payments FAQs

Will I need to update my card information on file for any automatic or recurring payments?

Yes, but to make this change easier for you, we’ll use Visa’s Account Updater tool to automatically update your card information on file with thousands of participating merchants.

Because the tool depends on participating merchants, it may not change every automatic or recurring payment you have automatically, but it should help with many of them.

Once you receive your new card, we encourage you to verify that all your recurring or automatic payments have been updated with your new card info.

Is there a way I can see all automatic or recurring payments being deducted from my account?

Yes. If you log in to Clearwater Digital Branch and choose Financial Wellness > Set Savings Goals, you’ll see your recurring expenses.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Not all recurring expenses may be attached to your debit card, but it is a good place to see all your recurring expenses in one place.

Pro Tip: This is also a good place to see recurring subscriptions you may have forgotten about.
