Clearwater and FHLB Des Moines Invest in Montana Communities
MISSOULA, Mont. – Clearwater Credit Union, in partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB Des Moines), is proud to announce more than $222,900 in grant funding to support affordable housing and community development initiatives throughout Montana.
Through the FHLB Des Moines Member Impact Fund, Clearwater contributed $65,000 to select nonprofit organizations, which was matched by FHLB Des Moines to amplify the total impact of local organizations working to strengthen Montana communities. Together, the partnership resulted in a 2.4x match, bringing the total investment to more than $222,900.
The funding will support the work of the following organizations:

- Free Cycles Missoula
- Front Step
- Great Falls Development Alliance
- Habitat for Humanity of Missoula
- Home ReSource
- Homeword
- MoFi
- NACDC Financial Services
- NeighborWorks Montana
- People Partners for Community Development
- Plenty Doors Community Development Corporation
- Salish Kootenai Housing Authority for the It̓qaʾwxam Nk̓ʷúwilš Solidarity Program
- Trust Montana
“At Clearwater, we believe strong communities are built when people have access to safe housing, opportunity, and support systems that help them thrive,” said Maria Valandra, VP of Community Partnerships. “These organizations are doing meaningful work across Montana every single day, and we’re proud to partner with FHLB Des Moines to help expand their impact.”
The Member Impact Fund is designed to strengthen local communities by supporting affordable housing, economic development, and initiatives that improve quality of life. In Montana alone, 287 applications received funding through partnerships with 41 FHLB member financial institutions. FHLB Des Moines matched $2.40 for every $1 contributed by member institutions, resulting in $1.6 million donated from FHLB member financial institutions and $4 million awarded by FHLB Des Moines statewide.
