Missoula, MT — A record number of Montana families are facing food insecurity this holiday season. Clearwater Credit Union is stepping forward with a collective $50,000 donation to support 11 food banks and pantries across the state.

Clearwater will spread its donation between the following organizations.  The $50,000 donation will help these organizations provide food boxes and essential groceries to Montanans in need.

  • Arlee Food Pantry
  • Butte Emergency Food Bank
  • Fast Blackfeet
  • Gallatin Valley Food Bank
  • Great Falls Community Food Bank
  • Help Lodge Food Pantry in Rocky Boy
  • Helping Hands on the Crow Reservation
  • Ksanka Food Pantry in Elmo
  • Missoula Food Bank
  • Montana Food Bank Network
  • Northern Cheyenne Food Pantry.

“Sadly, food insecurity touches every corner of our state, and local food pantries are seeing record demand,” said Jack Lawson, President and CEO of Clearwater Credit Union. “These organizations are on the front lines helping families every day. We’re honored to support their work, and we’re grateful to our members who, simply by banking with us, make it possible for us to support our friends and neighbors in need.”

In addition to its $50,000 donation, Clearwater Credit Union is partnering with Z100 Missoula’s Classic Rock and the Missoula Motor Company to sponsor the Guerrilla Turkey Drive. The drive will help to provide holiday turkeys for food banks and pantries from Missoula to Darby, including the Darby Bread Box, Haven House in Hamilton, Pantry Partners in Stevensville, Community Food Bank of Mineral County, Missoula Head Start, and the Missoula Food Bank.

The Guerrilla Turkey Drive starts Monday, November 17 and continues through Friday, November 21. During that week, you can drop your donations off at Z100 Missoula’s Classic Rock business office located at 3250 South Reserve Street. All donations count towards the Can the Cats food drive totals.

If you are a family experiencing food insecurity, you can find your local food pantry on the Montana Food Bank Network’s website.
