Clearwater to Build New Branch in Uptown Butte as Growth Continues

Butte, MT – Encouraged by steady growth, Clearwater Credit Union (Clearwater) is excited to announce plans to expand by developing a new branch in Uptown Butte in the vacant Wells Fargo building located at 200 N. Main St. Clearwater’s new branch will be at the corner of Main and Granite – close to its existing branch, but more visible to consumers, with additional parking, and room to accommodate a drive-thru.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Uptown Butte and for us at Clearwater. We love our current branch, but it is limited in size and has no drive-thru capacity. By building a new branch, we will be able to accommodate growth, provide greater access to our members, and make a lasting contribution to uptown Butte.” said Jack Lawson, President & CEO of Clearwater Credit Union.

A member-owned financial cooperative, Clearwater seeks prudent investments for long-term financial success, reflecting its commitment to values-based banking. The goal of this project is to improve the member experience at the Butte Branch and demonstrate our commitment to social, economic, and environmental sustainability.

Construction on the new branch is slated to begin in the Spring of 2023 and will likely take 12-18 months to complete. This project will aim to fit into the architectural character of Uptown Butte, improve the member experience by adding a drive-thru and other services, and capitalize on advancements in energy efficiency and sustainable building practices. The new Clearwater Branch in Butte will be a warm, inviting space for members to conduct business or take a quick break.

“We are really excited to build a more expansive home in Uptown Butte,” said Paul Herendeen, Clearwater’s Director of Impact Market Development. “Butte has such a rich history and a bright future — we’re excited to continue working with the community to preserve Uptown’s character and help build its tomorrow.”
